Surah As-Saffat 37:176



Then for Our punishment are they impatient?

{أفبعذابنا يستعجلون}

(176)

It is an interrogative sentence of rebuke. Juwaybir narrated from Ibn Abbas, who said: They said, "O Muhammad, show us the punishment with which you threaten us, and hasten it for us." So this [verse] was revealed. It is also narrated that when {But they are going to see} [37:175] was revealed, they asked, "When will this be?" and so this [verse] was revealed.
