ﳀ ﳁ ﳂ ﳃ

And leave them for a time.

And turn away from them for a time. And see, for they shall see.

This is a consolation for the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), following previous consolations, and a confirmation that the appointed time shall inevitably occur.

Coupled with the emphasis, the absolute usage of the two verbs—without specifying the object—serves as an explicit indication that the various forms of joy that he (peace and blessings be upon him) will witness at that time, and the various forms of harm that they will witness, are beyond the scope of description and explanation. It is also permissible that the former refers to the punishment of this world, and the latter refers to the punishment of the Hereafter.
