Tafsir of As-Saffat 37:36

By this—may Allah the Exalted destroy them—they mean the Prophet (may Allah the Exalted grant him peace and blessings). They have combined the denial of Oneness (Tawhid) and the denial of the Message (Risalah), and have described the poet as mad.

It has been said: This is confusion and delirium, for poetry requires a perfect intellect through which strange meanings are organized and fashioned into molds of wondrous expressions. Regarding this, they look at those of us who have seen poets with deficient intellects, some of whom claim that their poetry does not improve until they consume intoxicants and become intoxicated, and then they recite. Yes, both descriptions are delirium with respect to him (may Allah the Exalted grant him peace and blessings).
