ﲆ ﲇ ﲈ
So they turned away from him, departing.

Verse range: 37:90
(90) This is a consequence derived from his statement—peace be upon him—("Indeed, I am ill"). That is, they turned away from him and abandoned his proximity. The meaning is that they departed for their festival and left him behind.
"Turning away" (mudbirin) is either a corroborative state (hal mu'akkidah) or a restrictive state (hal muqayyadah), based on the understanding that "ill" means he was stricken with plague, or that they presumed he had an illness that was contagious—whether plague or otherwise. For an illness that is contagious according to the physicians is not exclusive to the plague. Thus, it is as if it were said: "They turned away from him, fleeing for fear of contagion."
