Tafsir of An-Nisa' 4:167

(Indeed, those who disbelieved) in what was revealed to you, or in everything that must be believed in—and this is included therein primarily—and those intended by this are the Jews. It is as if the sentence is to clarify the ruling of Allah, glorified be He, concerning them after explaining their state and their obstinacy.

(And turned [others] away from the way of Allah) meaning the religion of Islam, from those who desired to follow it, by their denial of the description of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and their saying: "We do not know him in our Book, and the law of Moses, peace be upon him, cannot be abrogated, and prophets can only be from the descendants of Aaron and David, peace be upon them." It is also read as suddu (passive voice).

(They have certainly strayed) by disbelief and turning others away, (a far astray) because they combined misguidance and leading others astray, and because the one who leads others astray is stronger and more deeply immersed in misguidance and further from desisting from it.
