Tafsir
Verse range: 40:38
"And the one who believed said": he is the believer from the family of Pharaoh. It has been said regarding him what was said regarding his predecessor—that it is Moses, peace be upon him—but this is weak, as is not hidden.
"O my people, follow me": in what I have guided you toward.
"I will guide you to the way of rectitude": a way by which its traveler reaches the intended goal. In this, there is an allusion that what Pharaoh is upon is the way of error. Mu’adh ibn Jabal recited it—as recorded in al-Bahr—as "al-Rashad" with a shaddah on the shin, and the discussion regarding that has already preceded, so do not be heedless.
