Tafsir of Ghafir 40:84

Surah Ghafir 40:84



ﲭ ﲮ ﲯ ﲰ ﲱ ﲲ ﲳ ﲴ ﲵ ﲶ ﲷ ﲸ

And when they saw Our punishment, they said," We believe in Allah alone and disbelieve in that which we used to associate with Him."

(So when they saw Our might), meaning the severity of Our punishment, and from this is the saying of the Exalted: "with a severe punishment."

(They said, "We believe in Allah alone, and we have disbelieved in what we used to associate [with Him]")

(They mean the idols or all of their false deities.)
