Tafsir of Ash-Shura 42:6

Surah Ash-Shura 42:6

ﱲ ﱳ ﱴ ﱵ ﱶ ﱷ ﱸ ﱹ ﱺ ﱻ ﱼ ﱽ

And those who take as allies other than Him - Allah is [yet] Guardian over them; and you, [O Muhammad], are not over them a manager.

Tafsir

Ruh al-Ma'ani

Ash-Shura: 6

"And those who have taken others besides Him as allies—He is a Guardian over them (a watcher/observer over their conditions and their deeds, so He shall recompense them for them), and you are not a guardian over them."

(Meaning: You are not appointed as a guardian over them, nor is their affair entrusted to you. Your function is merely to convey.)

As for what is contained in this verse regarding the instruction to leave them be—according to what is in al-Bahr—it is abrogated by the Verse of the Sword.
