(10) He who made for you...

(He who made for you the earth as a bed): A leveled place, meaning a surface made stable; its ultimate sense is its spreading out for you so that you may dwell upon it. This does not contradict its sphericity due to its vastness. It is narrated that ‘Asim recited it as mahdan (مَهْدًا) without an alif.

(And made for you therein paths): Roads which you traverse in your travels, (that you might be guided).

(Meaning: So that you may be guided) by following them to your destinations, or by reflecting upon them toward the Oneness [of God], which is the primary objective.
