Verse range: 43:34
(And for their houses) meaning, and We would have made for their houses; the repetition of the mention of their houses is for the sake of emphatic confirmation.
(And because it is the beginning of a clause) (Doors and couches), meaning made of silver, as you have heard. It was also recited as sururan with a fatha on the sin and the ra, which is a dialect of Banu Tamim and some of Kalb. That is the plural of the doubled fa'il form when it is a noun, by consensus, and when it is an adjective—such as thawb jadid (new garment) and thiyab judud (new garments)—there is disagreement among the grammarians. (Upon them) meaning upon the couches (they would recline), as is the custom of kings, with nothing troubling them.
