Tafsir of Az-Zukhruf 43:87

"And if you ask them who created them"—that is, if you ask the worshippers or the worshipped—"they will surely say, 'Allah.'"

The obstinacy regarding this is impossible due to its overwhelming clarity. The aspect of attributing such a statement to the worshipped is even more evident and manifest, such that it cannot be hidden.

"So how are they deluded?"

That is: How are they turned away from His worship—Exalted be He—to the worship of others besides Him, and how do they associate partners with Him—Mighty and Majestic is He—despite their admission that He is their Creator, or with their knowledge of their deities' admission of the same?

The particle fa (so) is consequential; meaning, if the matter is as such, then how [are they deluded]? The intent is to express astonishment at their associating partners with Him despite that [admission]. It is also said: The meaning is, "How can they deny after their knowledge of that?" It is an expression of astonishment at their worship of others and their denial of Tawhid (monotheism), even though it is firmly planted in their natural disposition (fitrah). Regardless, it is connected to the preceding declaration of Tawhid and the acknowledgment that He—Exalted be He—is the Creator.

As for the view that the meaning is "How or where are they turned away from believing in the Resurrection, given that restoration is easier than origination," and connecting it to the matter of the Hour—as some have suggested—the context rejects this.
