How will there be for them a reminder [at that time]? And there had come to them a clear Messenger.

How will there be for them a reminder [at that time]? And there had come to them a clear Messenger.
Tafsir
Verse range: 44:13
(How can they have the reminder) signifies a negation of their sincerity in their promise, and that their objective is merely the removal of the punishment and [the attainment of] deliverance. That is: how can they be reminded, or from where can they be reminded by that, and [then] fulfill what they promised regarding belief upon the removal of the punishment from them?
(While there had already come to them a clear messenger)
That is: and the situation is that they have already witnessed, among the motives for remembrance and the causes for taking heed, that which is greater than that [the punishment] in terms of necessitating them. This is because a messenger of great status came to them, whose mission was made manifest by signs and miracles that would cause even solid mountains to tremble, or one who demonstrated to them the paths of truth through those [signs].
