Tafsir
Verse range: 45:35
(That) punishment (is because you) i.e., for the reason that you (took the signs of Allah in mockery), meaning: they were mocked and you did not raise your head for them, (and the worldly life deluded you), so you supposed that there is no life other than it.
(So this day they shall not be brought out of it), i.e., the Fire. Al-Hasan, Ibn Wathab, Hamza, and al-Kisa'i recited [la yukhrajuna] (they shall not be brought out) in the active voice. The shift to the third person is to indicate their expulsion from the rank of address out of contempt for them, or to indicate their transfer from the station of address to the concealment of the Fire. It is permitted that this is the beginning of a new statement, so there is no shift.
(Nor will they be asked to seek amends), meaning: it will not be requested of them that they satisfy their Lord—Glory be to Him—i.e., that they remove His displeasure—Exalted be He—and this is a metonymy for pleasing Him—the Almighty. That is, they will not be asked to please Him—the Almighty—because its time has passed. Other aspects regarding this have already preceded in [Surahs] Ar-Rum and As-Sajdah, so recall them.
