Tafsir of Al-Ahqaf 46:22

(They said, "Have you come to us") - an interrogative of reproach - (to delude us), meaning: to turn us away, as Al-Dahhak stated, derived from al-ifk (delusion) in the sense of diversion. It is also said: to displace us by means of al-ifk, which is lying. (from our gods), meaning: from their worship. (Then bring us what you promise us), namely, the administration of punishment for [our] polytheism in this world, (if you are among the truthful) in your promise of its descent upon us.
