Tafsir
Verse range: 48:19
These are the spoils of Khaybar, as stated by more than one scholar. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, divided them as recorded in the hadith of Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and Al-Hakim—who authenticated it—on the authority of Mujammi' ibn Jariyah al-Ansari. He gave two shares to the horseman, of whom there were three hundred, and one share to the foot soldier. It has also been said: these are the spoils of Hajar.
Al-A'mash, Talha, Ruways from Ya'qub, Dablah from Yunus from Warsh, Abu Dahiya and Saqlab from Nafi', and Al-Antaki from Abu Ja'far read it as ta’khudhūnaha (you will take them) with the ta (addressing the believers). The shift to the second-person address is to honor them in the act of bestowing favor.
"And Allah is ever Exalted in Might" — Prevailing. "Wise" — Observant of the requirements of wisdom in His rulings and decrees, Exalted is His Majesty.
