Qaf: (12) "The people of Noah denied before them..."

(The people of Noah denied before them, and so forth) is a resumption [of the discourse] brought to confirm the truth of resurrection through the consensus of all the messengers—peace and blessings be upon them—and the refutation of those who deny it. In this, there is also consolation for the Prophet—may Allah the Exalted bless him and grant him peace—and a threat to the disbelievers.

(And the Companions of the Rass) is the well that was not lined with stones; it is also said: it is a valley, and its companions—it is said: they are those to whom Shu'ayb—peace be upon him—was sent; and it is also said: they are the people of Hanzala ibn Safwan.
