(And ‘Ad, and Pharaoh): It is intended to refer to him and his people, so that it may correspond with what precedes it and what follows it. This is like naming a tribe, for example, "Tamim," after their forefather.

(And the brothers of Lot): It has been said that they were his in-laws, peace be upon him; thus, true biological brotherhood is not what is intended.
