Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allah].

Qaf: (8) An insight and a reminder for every...

(An insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Him])

He returns to His Lord, and this is a metaphor for contemplating the wonders of His creation—Glorified be He—by treating contemplation of the created things as equivalent to returning to their Creator.

"An insight" and "a reminder" are, in terms of meaning, the underlying reasons for the preceding actions, even if they are grammatically linked to the final verb or to an implied verb by way of commencement—that is, "We did what We did to provide insight and to remind."

Abu Hayyan said: They are accusative as infinitives derived from an implied verb of their own root, meaning: "We gave insight and We reminded." However, the first interpretation is superior.

Zayd ibn Ali read them as tabsiratun wa dhikratun (nominative), meaning: "He created them as an insight and a reminder." And His saying, Exalted be He: [continuing verse...]
