Al-Dhariyat: (35) "So We brought out whoever..."

"So We brought out..." and what follows is a narrative from the Almighty regarding what befell the people of Lut, peace be upon him, presented in summary after the narration of the discourse that took place between the angels and Ibrahim, peace be upon them. The fa (so) is explanatory (fasiha), elucidating clauses that have been omitted, relying on their mention elsewhere. It is as if it were said: "So they departed from him and came to Lut, and what transpired between them and him occurred, and they carried out what they were commanded to do, so We brought them out by Our saying: 'Set out with your family...' etc."

"Whoever was in it"—that is, in the towns of the people of Lut. It is mentioned by pronoun without previous explicit reference due to its fame.

"Of the believers"—that is, of those who believed in Lut, peace be upon him.
