Adh-Dhariyat: (49)

(And of everything): meaning, of every genus of living beings, (We have created two kinds): two types, male and female. This was stated by Ibn Zayd and others. Mujahid said: This is an indication of opposites and counterparts, such as night and day, misery and happiness, guidance and misguidance, the heavens and the earth, black and white, health and sickness, and so forth. At-Tabari favored this view, as it is more indicative of [Divine] Power.

It has also been said: The intention here is the logical genus, and the minimum that falls under it are two species. Thus, He—Glory be to Him—created from substance, for example, the material and the immaterial; and from the material, the growing and the inanimate; and from the growing, the sentient and the plant; and from the sentient, the non-speaking and the speaking—and it is as you see.

(That you may remember): meaning, We did all of that so that you may remember, and thus realize that He—Mighty and Majestic is He—is the Lord, the All-Powerful, whom nothing can render incapable, so that you may act in accordance with that knowledge and worship none but Him.

It is said: We created that so that you may remember that multiplicity is a characteristic of contingent beings, while the Necessary Being—Glory be to Him—does not admit multiplicity or division.

It is also said: The intention is to be reminded, by all that was mentioned, of the matter of resurrection and dispersal; for He who is capable of bringing these things into existence is capable of restoring the dead on the Day of Resurrection, and this is a valid interpretation. Ubayy read it as tatadhakkarun (with two ta's and the dhal unvowelled).
