Tafsir of At-Tur 52:33

"Or do they say, 'He has fabricated it'": That is, he invented it of his own accord. Ibn Atiyyah said: Its meaning is that he falsely attributed its speech to someone other than himself; thus, it is an expression for a specific type of lie, and the objective pronoun refers to the Quran.

"But they do not believe": Because of their disbelief and stubbornness, they cast these falsehoods. How could they not, when the Messenger of Allah (may Allah exalt him and grant him peace) is but one individual among the Arabs? How then did he bring forth that which all nations—of both Arab and non-Arab—were incapable of producing?
