Surah At-Tur 52:44
ﲧ ﲨ ﲩ ﲪ ﲫ ﲬ ﲭ ﲮ ﲯ
And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up."

(And if they were to see a *kisfan*)
A piece. It is singular, and it has been read throughout the entire Quran as kisafan (plural) and kusafan (plural), except here, for it is exclusively in the singular. It is highlighted for magnification; that is: "And if they were to see a magnificent piece."
(Falling from the sky)
For their punishment.
(They would say)
Due to the excess of their tyranny, such that if We were to cause it to fall upon them as they requested—"or you make the sky fall upon us in pieces, as you have claimed"—they would say: "It is a cloud"
(Stacked)
Accumulated, with some parts cast upon others. That is, they are so entrenched in their tyranny that if We were to cause it to fall upon them as they requested—"or you make the sky fall upon us in pieces, as you have claimed"—they would say: "It is a stacked cloud that will rain upon us," and they would not believe that it is a piece falling for their punishment.
