Surah An-Najm 53:25



ﳐ ﳑ ﳒ

Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].

25. {For to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].}

This is an explanation for the negation of that [claim mentioned previously]. The fact that the dominion over all matters of the Hereafter and the first life belongs exclusively to Allah necessitates the negation of man having any authority over any matter whatsoever. Rather, what Allah the Exalted willed for him came to be, and what He did not will, did not occur. The Hereafter was mentioned first to emphasize the rebuttal of that which they deemed most important, namely, their [erroneous] belief in attaining success in it. It is for this reason that He followed it with His saying:
