Tafsir
Verse range: 54:15
"And We indeed left it" — meaning, We preserved the Ark, based on what has been narrated from Qatadah and al-Naqqash: that its timber remained on [Mount] al-Judi until some of the early generations of this Ummah saw it. Alternatively, We preserved the news of it, or We preserved its genus (type), and that is the [continued] preservation of ships. Or, "left it" (taraknaha) means "We made it." It is also permitted that the pronoun refers to the action, which is the saving of Noah, peace be upon him, and those with him, and the drowning of the disbelievers.
"Is there any who will receive admonition?" — meaning, is there anyone who will take heed by that sign, desiring to take a lesson?
Qatadah read it — according to what Ibn Atiyyah reported — as muddakir (with the dotted dhal), by changing the ta of the ifta'al form into a dhal and assimilating the dhal into the dhal. The al-Lawami' states: Qatadah read fahal min mudhakkir (with a shadda on the kaf), derived from tadhkir (reminding), meaning: [is there anyone who will] remind himself or another by it? It has also been read as mudhtakir (with a dotted dhal followed by the ta of ifta'al), which is the original form.
