Tafsir of Al-Qamar 54:33

Following the pattern of the preceding observation: (We sent against them a hasiban)—which is a noun derived from what is said regarding the fact that it pelts them (yahsubuhum), meaning it strikes them with gravel and stones. Alternatively, it is a name for the wind that carries gravel. It does not imply the [grammatical] occurrence of a feminine form, just as [it is said] naqah damir (a lean she-camel). This explains the [masculine] gender.

Ibn Abbas said: It is that with which they were pelted from the sky, consisting of stones within the wind. In support of this is the saying of al-Farazdaq:

Facing the north of Syria, we are struck By a hasib (gravel-laden wind) like scattered tufts of wool.
