Verse range: 54:34
(Except for the family of Lot): His specific followers who believed in him. It is also said: His kin, [referring specifically to] his two daughters.
(We saved them before dawn): That is, at dawn, which is the end of the night. It is also said: [It is] the final sixth of it. Al-Raghib said: Al-Sahar (dawn) and al-sahara (the time just before dawn) is the intermingling of the darkness of the end of the night with the clarity of the day, and it has been made a name for that [specific] time. It is permissible that the ba (in bi-sahar) denotes accompaniment, and the prepositional phrase occupies the position of a circumstantial qualifier (hal), meaning: "Entering into the dawn."
