Tafsir of Ar-Rahman 55:23

“So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?” (23)

Regarding the ornaments and magnificent benefits contained therein, physicians have mentioned that pearl prevents palpitations, heart tremors, weakness of the liver and kidneys, stones, burning urination, obstructions, jaundice, heart diseases, poisons, obsessive delusions, insanity, fear, and shyness when consumed as a drink; and it treats leprosy, pitting, vitiligo, and scars absolutely through topical application, among other things.

As for coral—meaning basadh—it brings joy and removes corruption of appetite, even if merely worn as an amulet. When consumed as a drink, it treats the spitting of blood and splenic conditions; and when applied as kohl, it treats excessive tearing, corneal opacity, inflammation of the eyelids, and scabies, in addition to other properties mentioned in their books.
