Tafsir of Ar-Rahman 55:3

Then He, the Glorified, followed the favor of teaching the Quran with the creation of man, for He the Exalted said: "(He) created man," because he is the origin of the favors bestowed upon him. The reason He preceded what He preceded [the Quran] with this is that it [the Quran] is the greatest of them. It is also said: It is because it points to the ultimate purpose of man's creation, which is his perfection in the power of knowledge, and the goal precedes that which is for the goal in the mind, even if the matter is the reverse in external reality. The intent by "man" is the genus, and by His creation of him is his bringing into existence upon what he is of apparent and hidden powers.
