Tafsir of Al-Waqi'ah 56:27

(And the companions of the right—what of the companions of the right?)

This is the commencement of the explanation of the details of their affairs, following the explanation of the details of the affairs of the foremost (al-sābiqūn).

(And the companions of the right) is a nominal sentence starting with a subject (mubtada'). As for His saying: (what of the companions of the right?)—it is an interrogative sentence implying their exaltation and expressing wonderment at their state. According to what has been said, it is either [in the position of] the predicate for the subject, or [based on the interpretation that] His Glorified saying: ...
