Regarding the samum (scorching wind), Al-Raghib stated: It is the hot wind that exerts an effect similar to that of poison. In Al-Kashshaf, it is described as the heat of a fire that penetrates the pores, and the tanwin (the n-suffix) is for the purpose of glorification.
