Tafsir of Al-Waqi'ah 56:72

Did you produce its tree—that from which fire is struck, which is al-markh and al-‘afar? It has been said that what is meant by "the tree" is fire itself, as if it were said: its type or its genus, and the term "tree" was metaphorically applied to that. This is a far-fetched interpretation for which there is no need.

Or are We the Producers of it by Our power? The expression of its creation as insha’ (producing/originating) denotes wondrous craftsmanship and expresses the perfection of power and wisdom, due to the strangeness in it that distinguishes it from all other trees. It is not devoid of fire—to the extent that it has been said that there is fire in every tree, though al-markh and al-‘afar are specifically noted for it. This is similar to the expression of the blowing of the soul as insha’ in the saying of the Exalted: "Then We produced it into another creation."
