And burning in Hellfire
Tafsir
Verse range: 56:94
(And the roasting of a Hellfire) — meaning: an entry into the Fire. It is also said: A remaining therein and an enduring of the various shades of its torment. All of this is predicated on the view that the intent is to explain what they shall have on the Day of Resurrection.
It is also said: This is construed as what he finds in the grave of the heat of the Fire and its smoke, because the discourse is regarding the state of being taken in death and immediately following the seizure of souls; and what is most appropriate for that is that what has been mentioned occurs in the Barzakh (the interval between death and the Resurrection).
Ibn Abi Hatim extracted from Ibn Abbas that he said regarding the verse: "The disbeliever shall not depart until he drinks a cup of boiling fluid."
Ahmad ibn Musa, al-Munqari, and al-Lu'lu'i recited from Abu 'Amr "wa-tasliyati" (And the roasting of) with the kasra (genitive case), as a conjunction connected to "hamim" (boiling fluid).
