Tafsir of Al-Waqi'ah 56:95

(Indeed, this)—meaning that which was mentioned in this noble surah, as Ibn Abi Hatim recorded from Ibn 'Abbas—(is the certain truth).

Regarding (certainty), as understood from the words of al-Zamakhshari in [Surah] al-Jathiyah, it is a name for knowledge from which all ambiguity has been removed. The author of al-Matla' explicitly stated this, mentioning that it is an interpretation based on meaning and is derived from the context; otherwise, it is knowledge that is absolutely certain.

The genitive construction (idafah) implies the meaning of "li" (belonging to). The meaning is: "It is the very essence of certainty." Thus, it is on the scale of the essence of a thing and its self. It is not hidden that this construction is an instance of adding a general term to a specific one, and that it carries the meaning of "li" is the position of some. Others have said: It is explanatory (bayan), carrying the meaning of "min" (from). Some have posited an implicit adjective here, meaning: "It is the truth of the certain report." The claim that this does not befit the context is invalid.

In al-Bahr [al-Muhit], it is said: The construction is an addition of synonyms by way of hyperbole, just as one says, "This is the certainty of certainty" and "the correctness of correctness," meaning that it is the ultimate end in that matter. Thus, they are the same in meaning, and one is added to the other for the sake of hyperbole; however, there is scrutiny regarding this.
