Tafsir
Verse range: 57:5
(To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth): A repetition for emphasis and a prelude to His saying, Glorified be He: (And to Allah return all matters), which signifies the reversion [of all things].
(Meaning: To Him, Exalted be He, alone — not to any other, whether independently or in partnership — do all matters return, both their accidents and their substances.)
Al-Hasan, Ibn Abi Ishaq, and al-A‘raj recited it as (tarji‘u), in the active voice from the verb raja‘a (to return). In the passive reading, as followed by the majority, it is from the verb raja‘a (to cause to return).
