Tafsir
Verse range: 6:126
(And this)—that is, what the Quran contains, as narrated from Ibn Mas'ud, or Islam, as narrated from Ibn Abbas, or what preceded it regarding divine guidance and abandonment, as has been said—(is the path of your Lord), meaning the way He has approved, or His custom and method which His wisdom has necessitated. It is not hidden that there is subtlety in referring to the title of Lordship while attributing it to the pronoun of the addressee. (Straight)—having no crookedness or deviation in it, or being just and consistent. This is a state (hal) that emphasizes its subject, and its governing operative (amil) is obligatorily omitted, similar to [the phrase] "This is your father, compassionate." Or, it is foundational, and its governing operative is the meaning of the indication (ishara) or the particle ha which is for alerting.
(We have detailed the signs)—meaning We have made them clear and explicit—(for a people who remember), that is, who call to mind what is within their folds, thereby knowing that all occurrences are by His decree—glory be to Him—and His predestination, and that He—majestic is His majesty—is wise and just in all His actions. These people are specifically mentioned because they are the ones who benefit from this detailing.
