Tafsir
Verse range: 6:129
(And thus do We let some of the wrongdoers have authority over others)
That is: Just as previously mentioned regarding the enabling of the Jinn to lead humans astray and misguide them, or just as previously mentioned, (We let some of the wrongdoers)—from among humans—(have authority over others)—also from among them. This means We make it such that they take charge of them, manipulating them in this world through enticement, misguidance, and other means.
It has been inferred from this that if the subjects are wrongdoers, Allah, the Exalted, empowers over them a tyrant like them. In the Hadith: "As you are, so will you be ruled."
Alternatively, the meaning is: We make some of them companions of others in the punishment, just as they were companions in this world when committing the abominations that led to it, as has been said. A similar interpretation has been narrated from Qatadah.
