Tafsir of Al-An'am 6:45

(So the last remnant of the people who committed wrong was cut off) meaning the final part of them, as stated by more than one scholar. It is derived from duburihi (the back/rear of something), as in following it, as if it is in their rear, meaning behind them. From this is the saying: "Verily, among the people are those who do not come to the prayer except duburan," meaning at the end of the time.

Al-Asma'i said: The dābir is the root or origin. From this is the saying: "May Allah cut off his dābir," meaning his root. Regardless of which interpretation is taken, the intent is that they were eradicated by the punishment, and no one remained of them. The manifest noun was placed in the position of the pronoun [i.e., "the people who committed wrong" instead of "them"] to signify the reason for the judgment.

(And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds) for what befell them of exemplary punishment and destruction. Indeed, the destruction of the disbelievers and the disobedient—insofar as it is a deliverance for the people of the earth from the misfortune of their corrupt beliefs and wicked deeds—is a magnificent blessing for which it is fitting to offer praise. Thus, this is from the Exalted [Allah] a teaching to the servants to praise Him for such things. Al-Tabarsi chose the interpretation that it is a praise from Him, Mighty is His Name, to Himself for that action.
