Verse range: 64:10
{And those who disbelieved and denied Our verses, those are the companions of the Fire, abiding eternally therein; and wretched is the destination.}
(i.e., the Fire). It is as if this verse and the one preceding it—due to their containment of the stations of the fortunate and the wretched—are an exposition of the "mutual disillusionment" (al-taghabun), based on the interpretation of it as the mutual disillusionment of the two parties upon their confrontation. And because of the detail it contains, it descends to the status of being distinct; thus, it is conjoined with the [conjunction] waw. This is likewise the case for the absolute [general] interpretation, though it is—upon that [basis]—an exposition in summary.
