{And for those who disbelieved in their Lord...}

"And for those who disbelieved in their Lord"—whether excluding the devils, or including them along with others, on the basis that this is a generalization following a specification, intended to dispel the illusion that the punishment is restricted solely to the latter. The prepositional phrase is a fronted predicate.

His saying, "the punishment of Hell," is a delayed subject. The restriction here is relative, based on the evidence of texts regarding the punishment of the disobedient; thus, there is no argument in it for those among the Murji'ah who claim that none are punished except the disbelievers.

Ad-Dahhak, al-A'raj, Usayd ibn Usayd al-Muzani, and Hassan—in a narration by Harun from him—read "punishment" ('adhaban) in the accusative case, as a conjunctive to "the punishment of the Blaze" ('adhaba as-sa'ir), meaning: "And We have prepared for those who disbelieved the punishment of Hell."

"And wretched is the destination"—that is, Hell.
