**"Preventer of good"**
Meaning: Miserly, withholding; derived from "withholding one's favor from him" when one restrains it. The *lam* (in *manna'*) is for intensification. "Good" (*al-khayr*), according to what has been said, refers to wealth, or it means "preventer of people from good," which is Islam. This is similar to saying, "I prevented Zayd from disbelief," meaning I compelled him to refrain from it. Thus, mentioning the one prevented from it—as if it were said "preventer of people from good"—is the opposite of the first interpretation. Generalization therein, and the omission of the one prevented from it, is more impactful.
**"Transgressor"**
Meaning: One who exceeds his limits in oppression.
**"Sinful"**
Meaning: One who commits many sins, which are actions that delay [the attainment of] reward. What is intended by them are acts of disobedience and guilt.
