So leave Me, [O Muhammad], with [the matter of] whoever denies the Qur'an. We will progressively lead them [to punishment] from where they do not know.
{فَذَرْنِي وَمَنْ يُكَذِّبُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ}
Leave me and those who reject this discourse. That is, if their condition is what you have heard, then leave every one who rejects the Quran to Me, and entrust their affair to Me. This is a form of eloquent speech implying that the Speaker is confident in His ability to fulfill the utmost of what the addressed person desires and even more. Jar Allah (al-Zamakhshari) has verified this by stating that whoever entrusts a matter to someone leaves it entirely to him; otherwise, it would be a mere request for help, not a full entrustment. Thus, the consequence—which is the act of leaving the matter entirely to Him—is established in the place of entrustment. The phrase "leave me and him" occupies the place of "entrusting to Me," serving as a hyperbole indicating absolute sufficiency. How could it be otherwise when this "Sufficient One" requested to be entrusted by saying "Leave Me," and presented the act of leaving it to Him in the form of a prohibition? This is hyperbole upon hyperbole; for if He were not absolutely confident in His ability to fulfill the desire to the utmost degree—beyond what even crosses the mind of the one seeking sufficiency—there would be no logic in making the request in such an eloquent manner. The word "man" (those) is in the accusative case, either as a conjunction to the object in "leave me" or as an object of accompaniment.
{سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُمْ}
This is a new commencement intended to explain the manner of punishment alluded to generally in the preceding speech. The pronoun refers to those mentioned in "those who reject," and the plural form is used in consideration of its meaning, just as the singular form in "rejects" was used in consideration of its literal word. That is, We shall draw them down to the punishment degree by degree through respite, the continuation of health, and the increase of blessings.
{مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ}
They do not realize that this is a gradual entrapment; rather, they assume it to be a sign of favor toward them and preference over the believers, even though it is the very cause of their destruction.
