Or do you ask them for a reward for conveying the message and providing guidance?

A worldly reward.

For that reason, they are—

Burdened by debt; meaning, a financial penalty.

Overwhelmed, meaning tasked with a heavy load, and thus they turn away from you. This sentence, according to what Ibn al-Sheikh said, is conjoined to the words of the Exalted: "Or do they have partners?"
