{ Nor is it the word of a soothsayer } As you claim yet again.

{ Little do you remember } Meaning: You remember with a slight remembrance; hence, the matter becomes obscure to you. The syntactical analysis (i'rab) of this passage is the same as that of the preceding one, as is the recitation.

As for mentioning "belief" in conjunction with the negation of "poetical craft," and "remembering" in conjunction with the negation of "soothsaying," it has been said: Because the fact that the Quran does not resemble poetry is an evident matter that only an obstinate person would deny, there is no excuse for one who claims otherwise to abandon belief, and such a person is more senseless than a donkey.

This is in contrast to its distinctness from soothsaying, which is contingent upon remembering the states of the Prophet—may Allah Almighty bless him and grant him peace—as well as the meanings of the Quran that are inconsistent with the method of soothsayers, and the meanings of their statements. It has been countered that this also definitively requires contemplation. The response given to this is that it suffices for the purpose to distinguish between the two, in that the former does not require [the same degree of] contingency as the latter.
