*Wa-faṣīlatihi allatī tu’wīhi*
"And his kindred who shelter him"
- "And his kindred (faṣīlatihi):" Meaning his closest kinsfolk from whom he has branched out, as mentioned by more than one [scholar]. Perhaps this is more appropriate than the view of al-Raghib that it refers to the kin who have separated from him. Tha'lab said: "His faṣīlah are his closest forefathers." Abu 'Ubaydah interpreted the faṣīlah as the sub-tribe (fakhdh).
- "Who shelter him (allatī tu’wīhi):" Meaning who include him by way of affiliation or by his seeking refuge with them during calamities.
