Tafsir of Nuh 71:19

"And Allah has made for you the earth a carpet (bisatan)"—that you may move about upon it as one moves upon a carpet. There is no indication in this that the earth is flat rather than spherical, as is mentioned in al-Bahr and elsewhere; for whoever is upon a vast sphere perceives what is adjacent to him as flat. Furthermore, the belief in its sphericity or lack thereof is not a requirement of the Sharia, although its sphericity is a matter of certainty—even if it were not a reality. The reason for interjecting "for you" (lakum) between the verb of making (ja'ala) and its direct object is known from what has been mentioned more than once.
