Nūḥ: (5) "He said, 'My Lord, indeed I...'"

"He said," meaning Noah, peace be upon him, while conversing privately with his Lord, the Almighty and Majestic, and narrating to Him—glory be to Him—with the intention of complaining, while He, glory be to Him, is more knowing of his state, what transpired between him and his people in terms of back-and-forth discourse during that long period, after he had exerted the utmost effort in preaching, exceeded every customary limit in warning, and when stratagems became narrow for him and excuses failed him.

"My Lord, indeed I have invited my people" to faith and obedience.

"Night and day," meaning continuously, without lethargy or slackness.
