Tafsir of Al-Jinn 72:2

"It guides to the right way": That is, to the truth and what is correct. It has also been said: to monotheism and faith. Isa recited al-rushd with both dammahs (u-u), and it is also narrated from him with both fathahs (a-a).

"So we have believed in it": Meaning, in that Qur'an, without delay.

"And we will never associate anyone with our Lord": According to what its proofs of monotheism declare, or according to what rational proofs of monotheism declare. This sentence was not conjoined with fa (so). Al-Khafaji said: This is because their negation of polytheism is either due to the rational proof established for them—in which case it does not follow from the belief in the Qur'an—or it is due to what they heard from the Qur'an—in which case it suffices for its sequence that the first be conjoined with fa, especially since the ba in bihi (in it/by it) allows for causality, so belief in it encompasses belief in what is contained within it. For if you say: "I struck him, so he became disciplined and compliant," the understanding is that compliance is a consequence of the striking. If you were to say, "and he complied," it would not follow from the first [the striking], but rather from what preceded it. It has been said that it was conjoined with waw (and) to delegate the sequence to the mind of the listener. It may also be said that the totality of "So we have believed" and "We will never associate" is caused by the totality of "Indeed, we have heard..." and so on; for its being an inimitable Qur'an necessitates belief in it, and its guiding to the right way necessitates the eradication of polytheism at its root. The first view is more appropriate. It is permissible that the ba in bihi be for Allah—Exalted is His Majesty—because His saying—Glory be to Him—"with our Lord" explains it. So, do not be heedless.
