Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger.
Tafsir
Verse range: 73:15
"Indeed, We have sent to you" — this is an address to the disbelievers who possess luxury, whether it is considered as being from the speakers or some of them. In it, there is a shift from the third-person to the second-person (iltifat), and it is a shift of significant standing. That is, "Indeed, We have sent to you, O disbelievers among the people of Mecca, a messenger as a witness over you," who will testify on the Day of Resurrection regarding the disbelief and disobedience that proceeded from you, "just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger," who is Moses, peace be upon him. His non-specification is due to its lack of relevance to the comparison, or because he is well-known and beyond need of explanation.
