Tafsir of Al-Muddathir 74:30

The manifest meaning is nineteen angels. Do you not see the Arabs, who are the eloquent ones, how they understood this from it? It has been narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that when the verse "Upon it are nineteen" was revealed, Abu Jahl said to the Quraysh: "May your mothers mourn you! I hear that the son of Abu Kabsha (the Prophet) informs you that the keepers of the Fire are nineteen, and you are a mighty people—will every ten of you be unable to seize one man among them?" Then Abu al-Ashadd ibn Usayd ibn Kalada al-Jumahi, who was a man of great strength, said to him: "I will take care of seventeen for you, so you take care of the two." Consequently, Allah the Exalted revealed [the subsequent verses].
