Al-Qiyamah: (16) "Do not move your tongue with it..."

The address in the saying of the Almighty, "Do not move your tongue with it," is to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. The pronoun refers to the Quran, based on the indication of the verse's context, such as, "Indeed, We sent it down during the Night of Decree."

That is: Do not move your tongue with the Quran while the revelation is being cast upon you before its revelation to you is completed, "to hasten with it"—meaning to acquire it in haste, out of fear that it might slip away from you, as dictated by the words of the learned scholar (Ibn Abbas). It has also been said: [it is out of] your intense love for it and your eagerness to deliver the message. This was narrated from Al-Sha'bi, and there is no contradiction between what has been mentioned. The ba (in bi-hi) in both cases serves to render the verb transitive.
